At GRAMA, we believe in empowering communities and fostering sustainable development through a wide range of initiatives and programmes. Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to create lasting impact in rural areas, focusing on institution building, watershed development, microfinance, education, and more. Our efforts have touched the lives of thousands, transforming villages and creating opportunities for growth and self-reliance.
Since 1990, institution building has been at the heart of GRAMA’s mission. We have facilitated the formation and strengthening of community-based institutions in 320 villages, benefiting 39,641 individuals. These institutions serve as the backbone of rural development, enabling communities to take charge of their own progress.
GRAMA has implemented numerous watershed projects across the region, supported by organizations like the World Bank, NABARD, and the Government of Karnataka. These projects have revitalized thousands of hectares of land, ensuring water security and improving agricultural productivity. Key projects include:
GRAMA’s microfinance initiatives have empowered over 9,910 individuals across 250 villages, providing financial support and fostering entrepreneurship. Our partnerships with NABFINS and ICICI Bank have enabled us to extend credit facilities and training to women and marginalized communities.
We are committed to building a brighter future through education and skill development. Our programmes include:
GRAMA has formed 8 women’s federations, comprising 240 self-help groups (SHGs). These federations have become independent entities, driving economic and social change in their communities.
